Rachel Brown, LMSW

About

I am a Licensed Social Worker, trained in Family Systems Therapy, working with individuals to help them understand themselves in the broader context of their background and lived experience.

I specialize in working with individuals who suffer from anxiety, major life transitions, relationship difficulties, particularly with female identity issues, in juggling postpartum challenges, career, family of origin boundaries and the relationship with a life partner. I am passionate and dedicated to helping my clients achieve the life they want to lead.

I strive to help my clients create a more proactive, calm, and meaningful life, by examining childhood traumas, and coping mechanisms that were previously necessary, but may now contribute to stress and anxiety and have become maladaptive. I appreciate the realness that clients bring to therapy when they become vulnerable in the room, against a safe and empathetic non-judgmental backdrop to explore and reflect on their story. Being responsive to my client's needs is a strong value I bring into my practice.

Working collaboratively with my clients drawing on attachment theory, person-centered theory and CBT, I support the client to explore their past as connected with their present while empowering them to envision their dreams and aspirations for the future. I firmly believe all emotions and feelings are there to be welcomed, explored and validated.

I am a goal-oriented therapist with a warm and collaborative approach. I am mindful of the experience of therapy. While my training was mainly with family systems therapy, noticing patterns, and creating connections. I also use some other therapeutic modalities such as EFT and strength-based psychology to effectuate change.

I feel privileged to join my clients on their journey through life and feel honored to be allowed to enter your inner world.
